Rebecca Bignall Academy of Dance is a dance academy for children three years and over, based in Nelson, New Zealand. We offer tuition in: Jazz   Classical Ballet   Tap Dancing Contemporary   Pre-School Dance At our academy children are given the opportunity to learn dance through positive and quality teaching strategies with an emphasis on having fun, whilst developing a competent dance technique.

The Academy offers a private lesson programme for students requiring extra support and for those wishing to extend themselves and their technique. Selected dancers, who show natural ability, are often offered a position in the Competition Team. 
The competition team travel both locally and nationally to compete against other dancers of their age. Many prizes can be won, including money, trophies and medals.

Rebecca Bignall Academy of Dance also offers all dancers the opportunity of extending their skills through the process of examinations. Whilst examinations are not compulsory – most of the academy’s dancers learn the curriculum and demonstrate their exam work in front of an examiner. Examinations are a great way of gaining confidence and building up a strong dance vocabulary. Children are graded and given a report card. They are rewarded with a certificate in recognition of their efforts.

Rebecca Bignall Academy of Dance offers plenty of performance opportunities for every single dancer enrolled. At the end of each year, the academy puts on a performance. This is a wonderful reward for the children as they get to wear costume and make-up and perform live to an audience. It is an exciting time, where our dancers celebrate what they have learned and indulge in the opportunity of performing to their friends and family.
